A fascinating device, also at Ampton, Suffolk, but does it qualify as a "Village Pump"? The old maps certainly show a well at this spot, and also indicate the locations of four pumps within 150 yds. Thanks to Bob Taylor, who discovered it, and to John Hurst who subsequently had fun exploring all around it and provided some very helpful thoughts on its operation. |More| Markings: "W 02" and "TD" on the housing, "H108" on the air vessel, and "22" on both sides of the flywheel.
