east ilsley A neat flywheel and crank pump on the green, next to the village pond, at East Ilsley, West Berks. And it WORKS! The Working Barrel seems to be just below ground level, with the stuffing box visible above ground - and leaking profusely. But it works - congratulations to the village for keeping it going. Their local historical society tells me that the 80' borehole below the pump was sunk as late as 1934, after severe drought problems in the village.

Markings: "F 11", and "1½".

Manufacturer: Unk.
