Behind, there's a small bronze plaque which reads:

AS PART OF THE MEMORIAL
TO HER LIFE AND WORK
IN
HARTING
1963
Further plaques tell us:

This Well was sunk and the
Pump erected by the Committee
of the Harting School on the
Property of the School
in the Year 1865.
