A pleasant setting for the pump at Soulby, Cumbs. Photograph obtained, with permission, from http://www.crossbarviewfarm.co.uk/. The photo on the right (thanks, John Hurst) shows that the pump was in dire need of a lick of paint in 2010. Another of John's photos, a close-up of the maker's plate, appears in the "Makers" section of this website. The pump was erected in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Markings: "L Airey, Plumber, Kendal". Manufacturer: L. Airey of Kendal.
