Manufacturer: Local expert Marcus Simms feels that it's a Chinese copy, the giveaway being that the bucket hook is so sharp and the pump is, overall, too shiny.

Could this be why the pump isn't set symmetrically in its alcove - to provide optimum space for the person using the pump? It featured on the Crossgar Women's Institute's golden anniversary mugs in 1998.

Markings: A "1" stamped on the end of the axle/crankshaft.

The dual-wheeled pump at Drumbo, Co. Down, has a handle on one side only, and it's axially-mounted. Photographs supplied by Marcus Simms - thanks, Marcus.

Markings: The panel at the base reads "W. WILLIS, DUBLIN ROAD BELFAST" and is followed by "1900". There are further markings further down at the back, hard to make out but including an "& Co".
